Sudan-Immigration Sudan seeks int’l community support in fighting illegal immigration, human trafficking
KHARTOUM, Oct 1:Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir Monday
urged the international community to support Sudan in combating illegal immigration and human trafficking, and hosting refugees.
“We call on the international community to perform its duties of supporting our efforts in combating illegal immigration and human trafficking, and its duties towards the refugees,” al-Bashir said addressing the Sudanese National Assembly (parliament).
He vowed to double the efforts to control foreign presence in the country to protect security of citizens.
Earlier, European countries vowed support for Sudan in combating human trafficking after Khartoum asked for logistical air and sea support to pursue multinational human smugglers.
Considered as one of the crosspoints for human trafficking and illegal immigration, Sudan has recently been witnessing increasing number of organized groups involved in these activities.
