Qureshi says PM’s Turkey visit aimed at enhancing ties
Islamabad: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi Thursday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Turkey is aimed at finding ways and means for converting long time bilateral friendship with Turkey into strategic economic partnership. Talking to journalists before departure for Turkey, he said avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation and convergence on regional issues will also be taken up during the discussions. To a question about discussions on Afghan issue, the Foreign Minister said Turkey has played a very positive role in Afghan peace and reconciliation process and is in consonance with Pakistan’s stance on the issue. He said Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Azerbaijan were visiting Pakistan this month to further deliberate over the regional situation with focus on Afghan peace.
