Russia to launch first Obzor-R radar satellite next year

Samara: Russia’s first Obzor-R radar satellite will be ready in 2019 and will be launched in the summer of 2020, CEO of the Samara-based Progress Rocket and Space Center Dmitry Baranov said.
“The Obzor-R satellite with the radar payload is in a high degree of its readiness and we are to get it this year. The launch is planned for the summer of 2020,” Baranov said.
As was reported earlier, Obzor-R Earth’s remote sensing satellite will carry radars based on the principles used in the Air Force, which will allow getting images with an accuracy of up to 1 meter.
