Rehman Malik appreciates Chidambaram peace statement
Islamabad: Former Interior Minister and senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Senator A. Rehman Malik has appreciated and welcomed the statement of P. Chidambaram wherein he has stated that there is no other option to avoid war than to hold talks with Pakistan.
Rehman Malik said: “I am pleased by the realistic statement of Congress senior leader and former Indian minister as I strongly believes that dialogue is the only way forward”.
He said that sane voice for peace are being raised in India against Modi war mongering as the people of India knows that Modi is escalating tension between both the countries for his benefits in elections using anti-Pakistan sentiments.
Senator Malik said that he knows P. Chidambaram since he was the Home Minister of India adding he was in Pakistan to attend the SAARC Interior Ministers’ Conference 2010 that he had chaired as then Minister of Interior of Pakistan.
He said that during Chidambaram’s visit, we both had agreed to continue dialogue and take concrete steps to reduce tension between Indian and Pakistan. He said that with mutual efforts, we had normalized relations between the two countries.
Senator Malik advised the present government of India to follow the footsteps of Mr. P. Chidambaram and take advantage of his experience and wisdom. He stressed the leadership of both countries to let us give a chance to peace and say no to war mongering of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He has asked the Congress leadership particularly P. Chidambaram to play a real and effective role for peace between both countries.
