Reliving revolutionary history, CPC resolved to pass test of new era
Beijing: On March 23, 1949, when the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee left Xibaipo in Hebei Province for Beijing, Chairman Mao Zedong uttered what later became a widely quoted phrase: “Today is the day to enter the capital to sit for a test.”
The test was referred to whether the CPC, as a revolutionary party, could successfully govern China.
Seventy years on, President Xi Jinping visited a revolutionary memorial site in the Fragrant Hills in suburban Beijing, which served as the seat of the CPC Central Committee for half a year after it left Xibaipo.
Reliving this moment of history is of great significance as the nation celebrates the 70th founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.
During his visit, Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, called on the whole Party and nation to strive to realize the two centenary goals and the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation, and urged CPC members to pass the test of the new era.
Under the profoundly changing domestic and international situation, China is facing various challenges on its journey of rejuvenation.
However, CPC members are able to embolden themselves to carry out the great struggle and overcome any difficulties ahead by drawing wisdom from three aspects of the revolutionary spirit.
The first is the spirit of struggling to the very end, overcoming difficulties and complacency.
The second is the commitment to serving the public good and exercising power in the interests of the people.
The third is the virtues of modesty and prudence as well as working hard and living simply without arrogance and impetuosity.
Inspired by the revolutionary spirit, the CPC will always work hard to maintain close ties with the people, win their wholehearted support and fight to realize their aspirations to live a better life.
Over the past 70 years, the CPC has built a new China with an enterprising spirit. Looking ahead, China’s national rejuvenation is set to have a bright future.
