‘Feel Florence’ app to facilitate tourists
Florence: – The app ‘Feel Florence’, the new city branding to suggest to tourists and citizens the best way to experience and visit the city has been presented.
The objective explained at a press conference to present the app, which was attended by Florence Mayor Dario Nardella and Tourism Councilor Cecilia Del Re, is to govern tourism flows by suggesting itineraries in districts across the city and help tourists understand local sights and attractions to promote sustainable tourism while offering residents a tool to be aware of events and initiatives in their city.
The app will be launched today at the Bto at the Leopolda station. The co-design phase will start on March 1: until then it will be possible to ask Florence city hall to become part of the ‘beta tester’ list to download the app, try it and interact with the city by suggesting new content and improvements and to further enrich the app before it is launched in June Along with cultural tourism, the new app is giving space to ‘green Florence’ with visits to parks and gardens. It includes sections like ‘great Florence’, ‘Florence on foot and by bicycle’, ‘creative Florence’, one for accessibility and another dedicated to children.
The section dedicated to ‘useful information’ thanks to the city’s open data, presents elements that can help visitors including a map of public bathrooms and benches, to respond to tourists’ needs and lessen the impact of tourism on the city.
