Chairman NDMA, British envoy discuss Covid19, locust situation
Islamabad: British High Commissioner Christian Turner called on Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal Wednesday and exchanged views over situation arising out in Pakistan due to Coronavirus pandemic and locust attack.
The Chairman informed the British High Commissioner about various steps to cope with the COVID-19 and locust.
He said in view of growing number of Corona cases in Pakistan, demand for isolation beds and ventilators has increased.
Muhammad Afzal said the United Kingdom can cooperate in acquiring oxygen beds and Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) ventilators.
He urged the United Kingdom to ensure early provision of micron sprayers.
The High Commissioner lauded NDMA’s role in the context of COVID-19 pandemic. He said the British Government will provide every possible cooperation to Pakistan in this difficult time.
Christian Turner said “we are making joint efforts in cooperation with international partners for the provision of oxygen beds and BiPAP ventilators.”
He assured that delivery of micron sprayers will be ensured soon to fight locust in Pakistan.
He said exchange of technical cooperation and information is vital for both the countries.
