Cynthia avoids court in Rehman Malik defamation, contempt of court cases
Islamabad: Cynthia D. Ritchie avoided appearing before the court where she was summoned to appear in-person in two separate cases; one pertaining to defamation and the other contempt of court.
Since she has nothing to provide in the court in her defence hence she intentionally avoided appearing before the court, a spokesman for Senator Rehman Malik said.
Senator A. Rehman Malik had filed a suit for recovery of 500 million rupees against Cynthia D. Ritchie on account of defamation for levelling false and defamatory allegations against him.
The court of Hon’ble District Judge was pleased to admit the suit for regular hearing and summoned Cynthia D. Ritchie to appear in the court today on 13.7.2020.
The court keeping in view the substance in the suit had also issued a stay order and restrained defendant Cynthia D. Ritchie from making or issuing any defamatory statement during pendency of suit. But, Cynthia D. Ritchie violated the court order and again issued defamatory statements upon which an application for initiating contempt proceedings against Cynthia. The court took serious notice of violation of stay order and issued notice to Cynthia, the contemnor to appear and face contempt proceedings.
The notices were served upon her today the main case as well as contempt proceedings were fixed in the court but Cynthia D. Ritchie intentionally avoided to appear as she has nothing in defence. The court has adjourned the suit for 08.09.2020 and court bailiff will again to serve the summons and notice of contempt proceeding upon Cynthia Dawn Ritchie. It must be mentioned here that the contempt of court entails 06 months punishment.
Ch. Abdur Rehman Bajwa Advocate Supreme court of Pakistan is pursuing the case on behalf of Senator A. Rehman Malik. In another second case of defamation, the court has summoned Cynthia Dawn Ritchie for July 27, 2020 as Senator A. Rehman Malik has also sued her of 20 billion rupees over levelling false allegations against him regarding Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
It must be mentioned here that the Court of District and Session Judge has already admitted and accepted the evidence of Senator A. Rehman Malik under Qazf Ordinance and has declared Cynthia Ritchie as accused person/Mulzima. The court has summoned her again on 20 July, 2020 under Qazf Ordinance as last time she intentionally avoided the court. Senator A. Rehman Malik had filed a complaint against Cynthia Dawn Ritchie under Qazf Ordinance which was admitted and was given the status of State Case.
Cynthia Dawn Ritchie had challenged Senator A. Rehman Malik to face her in the court but now she is intentionally and continuously avoiding the courts and remaining absent. The Islamabad Police has already trashed her allegations of rape and has declared her allegations as baseless.
