Government wants unbridled authority against people of Pakistan: PPP
Islamabad: Secretary General Pakistan People’s Party, Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari in a statement said that criticizing opposition by Prime
Minister Imran Khan on a serious and sensitive matter like Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is below prime minister’s status. In a statement, Bukhari said that Imran Khan should ask for pardon from opposition and the nation. He said that the opposition did not cause any hurdle in the way of legislation regarding national and people’ interest.
It does not suit a prime minister who has made the President House a factory of ordinances to talk about legislation. He said that the PPP will oppose every measure taken by the government against the basic human rights that are guaranteed by the constitution.
Meanwhile Secretary Information Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians, Dr. Nafisa Shah MNA has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s accusation of being on one page with India regarding Financial Action Task Force is highly condemnable and is a threat to the opposition.
Dr. Nafisa Shah in a separate statement said that by these kinds of statements, Imran Khan wants to pressurize the opposition. Everyone knows that earlier the PPP passed FATF relevant bills after presenting amendment in them but the PPP cannot allow illegal actions in the garb of FATF. PPP has clarified that the legislation the government wants to pass in the garb of FATF has nothing to do with FATF. This bill is not the demand by the FATF.
Dr. Shah said that the PPP cannot be pressurized by the selected government in the name of FATF. PPP has always kept the interest of the country supreme.
Arrest without warrant and other measures in the name of FATF are the violation of human rights. The government wants to grab unbridled, illegal and unconstitutional authority against the people of Pakistan. PPP will never allow this to happen, Dr. Shah concluded.
