Karachi: Prime Minister Imran Khan Saturday reached Karachi on a day-long visit and announced the Karachi Transformation Plan worth Rs 1,100 billion for the metropolitan city.

PM Imran Khan conducted aerial surveillance of the rain-hit areas of the metropolis. He presided over the Karachi Transformation Committee (KTC) meeting at the Governor House to analyze the proposed plan.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, federal and provincial ministers were present in the session. The premier announced the package in a news briefing afterwards at the Governor House.

Imran Khan said, “Drinking water is a big problem for Karachiites along with nullahs, drainage system, solid waste management and homeless persons. Transport is another issue in the provincial capital including roads.

“The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is clearing encroachments across the drains. People of Karachi faced difficult time and it is necessary to solve the city’s problems pertaining to infrastructure.”
