Rehman Malik seeks FIR against Cynthia Ritchie

Islamabad: Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior Senator A. Rehman Malik has lodged a complaint for the registration of FIR against Cynthia Dawn Richie for her fake, frivolous and highly defamatory allegations of rape.

The complaint was filed in Police Station Aabpara Islamabad with plea to lodge an FIR against Cynthia D. Ritchie under sections 182, 186, 211 and 506 of PPC and Section 7 of the Offence of Qazf (Enforcement of Hadd) Ordinance 1979. He said that Cynthia D. Ritchie continued to change her statement and backs off from the allegation of rape to pulling down her pant partially. He said that she alleged him after he as Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior took suo moto notice on her highly defamatory tweet about Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

Meanwhile, Senator A. Rehman Malik also filed CMA in Islamabad High Court and plead the court that the orders of 1st September 2020 may graciously be set at naught in the interest of justice as it is manifest from the facts that Cynthia D. Ritchie, through fraud and misrepresentation caused this honourable court to overturn the orders of Justice of Peace by means of order dated 1st September 2020. Hence this application for setting aside the said order.

In his application to Police, Senator A. Rehman Malik stated that in the capacity of Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior, he has taken suo-moto notice on 29 May 2020, while exercising his powers of taking suo-moto notice under Rule No.166 (4) of Rules of the Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012, of a Tweet of Cynthia Dawn Ritchie posted by her on twitter account on 27th May, 2020 against Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, which appeared widely on the social media, and asked the FIA to investigate her.

He stated that later, he also referred the matter to the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology & Telecommunication for further investigation into the matter which is in process. He further stated that thereafter on the next day i.e. on 30 May 2020, at 3:00 pm an unknown person came to his residence and gave him a message through his staff to withdraw the suo-moto notices taken by him or otherwise be ready for the consequences. “Therefore, not only did she try to put obstruction in discharging of my duty in the capacity of Chairman, Standing Committee on Interior but also tried to intimidate and threaten me of dire consequences. Besides her acts of intimidation and threatening me to withdraw suo-moto notice against her being a criminal offence, these also fall under breach of privilege under Rule 162 of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012’, his application reads. She has changed her statement for more than seven time and each time she contradicted her earlier statement.

Lastly, in her application given to the Secretariat Police Station, she backed off her allegation of rape and alleged of pulling down the pants partially.
The application stated that even this claimed / alleged act of pulling down her pant did not ever happen and it was a blatant lie to malign his reputation and to make a follow up cover story as she had already backed out from the main allegation of rape and no date and time is ever mentioned by her and no evidence has been provided by her to prove her allegations which is very much clear from the orders of the Justice of Peace dated 05th August, 2020.

Senator A. Rehman Malik elaborates in his application that when the threats of consequences conveyed to him to either take the notice back or get ready for consequences, she falsely alleged him for issuing of illegal POC to an Arab citizen namely Aref Al-Zarooni in her tweet as “@NadraMedia check how an Arab was given a Pakistan Origin Card (POC) in the name of Aref Al Zarooni w/ Address 41 Khayaban E Muslim DHA Phase 6? How can a foreigner get a POC? What role did @SenRehmanMalik play as MoI to issue to a foreigner? Is this state-level espionage? However, NADRA issued a rebuttal from its Official account and denied her allegation as “Pakistan Origin Cards are issued to eligible foreigners. The POC of Mr. ArefAlzarooni was issued legitimately as per NADRA POC Issuance Rules 2002.”

He maintained that in the application which Cynthia D. Ritchie submitted on 17-06-2020 to the Secretariat Police Station, she withdrew all the filthy, vulgar and derogatory allegation of rape she levelled against him in the social media/Tv channels. He adds that it proves that her allegation of rape against him were false and concocted with the intentions of causing injury to his reputation both nationally and internationally. He said that she has deliberately levelled false allegation of rape against him and kept on repeating it on social media and in her interviews to different channels, obviously with malafide intentions especially to block and sabotage the proceedings on suo-moto notice which the petitioner had taken on a derogatory tweet of her against a former Prime Minister of Pakistan. His application clarifies “However, when she lodged a complaint against me with the police, she did not mention the alleged incident of rape, purported to have been committed about 9 years ago. “

In his application Senator A. Rehman Malik has plead that keeping in view the above facts, it is requested a case may please be registered against Ms Cynthia Dawn Ritchie, an American national, under sections 182, 186, 211 and 506 of PPC and Section 7 of the Offence of Qazf (Enforcement of Hadd) Ordinance 1979.

It must be mentioned here that so far Senator A. Rehman Malik has not responded to Cynthia Ritchie in the same language as he has great respect in his heart for the women.. He is being victimized for the notice he has taken on Cynthia Ritchie defamatory tweet against Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. Senator A. Rehman Malik we’ll know the elements behind this engineered allegations and he will be disclosing all those who are behind this conspiracy which will be not less than a shock for the people.
