Kabul: Women for Afghan Women has appreciated NATO Senior Civil Representative Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo for supporting the Afghan women.

“Thanks NATO SCR @pontecorvoste for his support & hopes NATO will remain a staunch ally of Afghan women, insisting on their full and meaningful inclusion in negotiations to ensure sustainable, lasting peace in Afghanistan,” the WAW tweeted.

WAW is a grassroots, non-profit organization dedicated to securing and protecting the rights of disenfranchised Afghan women and girls in Afghanistan and New York, particularly their rights to develop their individual potential, to self-determination, and to be represented in all areas of life: political, social, cultural, and economic.

WAW advocates for women’s rights and challenges the norms that underpin gender-based violence wherever opportunities arise to influence attitudes and bring about change.

Earlier, on the International Day of Peace, Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo stressed the historic opportunity for peace in Afghanistan and reaffirmed NATO Allies and partners’ commitment to “contribute to an environment where sustainable, lasting and inclusive peace is possible.”
