Bilawal Bhutto pays glowing tributes to 16 martyrs of MRD movement
Karachi: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has paid glowing tributes to 16 martyrs of MRD movement on their 37th martyrdom anniversary being observed at village Punhal Khan Chandio in Shaheed Benazirabad on Tuesday.
In his message on the eve of anniversary, the PPP Chairman said that Jiyalas have always fought as frontline soldiers for democratic, constitutional and human rights of the masses and even laid down their lives during the popular movements of the nation.
He said that that new generation of Jiyalas was also ready to fight for the rights of the masses but this time we would demand accountability of all the atrocities committed by the dictatorial regimes and their puppets against the demoratic workers during their valiant struggle for democracy, human rights and against inequality and discrimination.
It may be recalled that sixteen PPP workers were martyred and 52 arrested during Zia regime while they were reciting Holy Quraan on National Highway near Sakrand. The martyrs included Muhammad Sadeeq Chandio, Pir Bux Chandio, Ali Sher Chandio, Ghullam Mustafa Chandio, Muhammad Uris Chandio, Gulab Chandio, Tharo Chandio, Rajib Chandio, Muhammad Hashim Khaskheli, Meero Khaskheli, Ali Gul Khaskheli, Muhammad Ramzan Khaskheli, Janib Khaskheli, Allah Rakhio Solangi, Mehboob Solangi and Hussain Bux Manghrar who fought during the struggle under the leadership of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. An elderly worker Punhal Khan Chandio and his son Ghulam Abbas Chandio among 52 were arrested, severely tortured and thrown into Khairpur, Sukkur and Nawabshah Jails.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari pledged that people of Pakistan, PPP leadership and workers would never forget the supreme sacrifices of the Jiyalasand they would remain in our memories forever.
