Zong 4G signs USF contract for network expansion in Karachi and Malir

Islamabad: Pakistan’s leading cellular and digital services provider, Zong 4G, signed the USF contract for further network expansion in the remote areas of the metropolis Karachi including Malir.

The project is a part of Zong 4G’s network expansion in the country’s Southern region through the Universal Service Fund.

Zong 4G, being the frontrunner of digital inclusion and social empowerment of Pakistan, was awarded the project by USF to reduce the country’s digital divide and extend the benefits of communications technologies to the masses.

The USF project for network expansion in Karachi’s outskirts including Malir complement Zong own efforts towards rural penetration and building a digital Pakistan.

The contract signing ceremony was held at Zong 4G headquarters and was attended by the Minister of IT & Telecom Syed Amin Ul Haque, Zong 4G Chairman & CEO Wang Hua, and USF CEO Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary.

Minister of IT & Telecom Syed Amin Ul Haque appreciated the development and said: “Pakistan is aiming for knowledge economy that would essentially be based on information technology. The Digital Pakistan that we envision is not possible to accomplish without the crucial support that Pakistan’s telecom sector is lending. We thank both USF and Zong 4G for their contributions towards our shared goal of an empowered and inclusive Pakistan.”

Speaking at the event, Chairman & CEO Zong 4G, Wang Hua said: “With the evolution of technology, the need for data is growing more rapidly. Therefore, with our customers as our first and foremost preference, we are committed to provide best-in-class services to them. With our collaboration with USF, we are addressing the needs of the underserved people of Karachi and Malir.
