Gillani refused custody of rejected Senate votes

Islamabad: The Secretary Senate has refused to hand over the rejected votes of Chairman Senate election to PDM candidate Yousaf Raza Gillani.

According to sources, the PPP leader’s lawyers had approached Secretary Senate to get the rejected votes, to which the Secretary said that the record had been sealed and it could only be de-sealed on the order of the court.

Yousaf Raza Gillani’s lawyer has said that even though the secretary denied their request, he did provide other documents. The court will be approached as soon as the provided documents are scrutinized, he added.

It is pertinent to mention that Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani had lost the election of Chairman Senate to Senator Sadiq Sanjrani earlier this month. Eight votes of Gillani were rejected, out of which, the rejection of seven votes is contentious.
