Complete national consensus on CPEC: Mushahid Hussain Sayed
Islamabad: Chairman Pakistan Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed has said that there was a complete national consensus on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Speaking in the Senate, the Upper House of the parliament, Sayed said CPEC and ties with Iron Brother China were supported by all the parties and groups.
He said the initiation of the CPEC at an economically challenging time for Pakistan was a Chinese vote of confidence to Pakistan.
The Senator said CPEC had already proven to be a success story. He said that Pakistan-China relations were built on a strong foundation of trust and complementarity of interests.
Previously, at a webinar, Sayed said Pakistan-China relations were quite unique and probably without precedent in the recent diplomatic history of the world.
“As the relationship between two neighbors unequal in size and social systems, but bound together by mutual interests, which have been reinforced over the past decade,” he said.
Referring to Pakistan’s support for the One-China policy, he said, “Both countries support each other without any traditional give and take.”
