Peaceful resolution of Afghan issue imperative for durable peace: FM

Islamabad: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that peaceful resolution of Afghan issue is imperative for durable peace in Afghanistan and the region.

He was talking to Speaker of Afghanistan’s Wolesi Jirga Mir Rahman Rahmani in Islamabad Tuesday.

The Foreign Minister expressed the resolve that Pakistan would continue playing its role for the success of the Afghan Peace Process. He urged the international community to play its due role in dignified and early repatriation of Afghan refugees.

Qureshi said parliamentary contacts between the two countries are imperative for improvement in bilateral relations.

The Afghan Speaker appreciated Pakistan’s leadership for its effective role for peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Both sides also discussed the bilateral relations, Afghan Peace Process and other matters pertaining to mutual interest.
