Islamabad: Slackness regarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will not be tolerated as the multi-billion-dollar plan is tied to Pakistan’s future, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani said in a meeting with CPEC Authority chief Lt. General Asim Saleem Bajwa (retd).

During the meeting, the Senate chairman said Iron Brother China had put Pakistan on the road to prosperity with the CPEC. The issues including ongoing CPEC were discussed, said an official statement.

Asim Saleem Bajwa apprised the Chairman that many projects under the CPEC were fast approaching completion. He said the government had tried to remove all hurdles to ensure smooth sailing of the CPEC.

On the occasion, Sadiq Sanjrani said it was the government and people’s duty to concentrate on the CPEC and check negligence. “The CPEC is bound to brighten Pakistan’s future. No slackness will be tolerated,” he added. He said the friendly relations between the two countries would set a path of economic and social progress in the region.

“We are proud of our friendly relations with China and the exchange of delegations at a parliamentary level will further help in improving political and economic relations between the two countries,” he said.
