Special photo exhibition inaugurated to mark 70 years of Pakistan-China friendship

Rawalpindi: Pakistani Punjab Arts Council is celebrating 70 years of Pakistan-China diplomatic ties by opening a week-long special photo exhibition.

Member National Assembly and Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Narcotics Control Sheikh Rashid Shafiq along-with Director Punjab Arts Council Waqar Ahmad inaugurated the exhibition.

More than 50 rare photographs are put on display in the exhibition. The exhibition featured photographs covering seven decades of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China and visits of heads of states of both the countries.

Pakistan and China, fondly called Iron Brothers, are celebrating 70 years of friendly diplomatic ties. The marathon celebrations started months ago and will continue will the year end. Functions are being held at the government and private level to mark the achievement.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Rashid Shafiq said that Pakistan-China friendship was an example to the world. “China has always stood by Pakistan in every difficult time,” he said.

Sheikh Rashid Shafiq said that Pakistan-China eternal friendship was the guarantor of peace and stability in the region.

“Billions of dollars invested in Pakistan in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a sign of the height of China’s Pak-China friendship. CPEC is a game changer not only for Pakistan but for the entire region,” he said.

Shafiq said CPEC will accelerate economic activities and provide employment to thousands of people. He also recalled that China gifted millions of Corona vaccines in difficult times to Pakistan.

Director Arts Council Waqar Ahmed said that Pakistan-China friendship is the most valuable strategic asset of both the countries. “Both the countries are inseparable from each other,” he added.

A large number of people from different walks of life participated in the inaugural ceremony. The exhibition is open for public and will continue for a week.
