Probe into Dasu bus attack completed: Interior Minister
Islamabad: Probe into the Dasu bus attack – in which nine Chinese nationals and four Pakistanis lost their lives – has been completed and the findings would be made public soon, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said.
“The CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) would not become the victim of any conspiracy. We have completed the probe (into the Dasu bus attack). The findings will be shared with the media,” he said at a news conference here.
Ahmed said Minister of Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi will share the details about the investigations and findings.
“No obstacles in the way of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will be tolerated. The entire nation is united on CPEC,” said the minister.
The interior minister said he had held two meetings with the Chinese ambassador Nong Rong and assured him of tight security of the Chinese nationals working in Pakistan. He said: “No one can become a hurdle in the relations between Pakistan and China.”
On July 14, thirteen people, including nine Chinese nationals, two personnel of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) and two locals, were killed and 28 others sustained injuries when a coach carrying them to an under-construction tunnel site of the 4,300-megawatt Dasu hydropower project fell into a ravine in the Upper Kohistan area after an explosion.
According to eyewitnesses, three vehicles were on their way to the Dasu dam site in a convoy after picking up Chinese labourers in the morning from Barseen camp, some eight kilometres from Dasu district headquarters of Upper Kohistan, via the Karakoram Highway when the blast occurred.
Both Chinese foreign ministry and the embassy in Islamabad praised Pakistani security forces handling of the situation after the blast.
