Faisalabad: The Pakistani government, parliamentarians and businesspersons will make the second phase of the gigantic China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a complete success with collective efforts, a top trade leader said.
Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) President Atif Munir Sheikh maintained that the government, parliamentarians and the businesspersons were working as a one unit for the implementation of the CPEC projects for the national and regional interest.
Addressing the business community here while attending a ‘Regional Dialogue on the Role of Parliament in Enhancing Investments, Trade and Industrial Development under CPEC Punjab,’ Sheikh mentioned the revolutionary influence of the CPEC on Pakistan’s economy.
“You will see a different Pakistan when the CPEC is complete. It (CPEC) is boosting Pakistan’s economy like magic,” he contended.
The event was organised by Sher Ali Arbab, chairman Parliamentary Committee on CPEC. During this meeting Atif Munir Sheikh also had a meeting with Punjab Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht and appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar for the success of CPEC in Punjab.
The FCCI President observed that although the government and parliamentarians were already making best efforts for the success of CPEC yet the involvement of the business community was prerequisite and in this connection, “FCCI is making all out efforts to highlight the importance of CPEC for the overall growth of our economy.”
He underscored that the Research and Development (R&D) department of the FCCI had published books on the ‘Potential and Opportunities of CPEC.’
“It has also chalked out a comprehensive program to send trade delegations to different potential markets and convince the investors to participate in this mega project and earn a reasonable dividend for their investment,” Sheikh added.
He also appreciated the efforts of Dr Urfa Iqbal, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) and acknowledged that she was making concerted efforts to attract maximum Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
“Faisalabad is the first choice for the intending investors. The FCCI will fully cooperate with her in this national task,” he remarked.
Sheikh welcomed the message of the Chinese ambassador Nong Rong about Pakistan-China friendship and cooperation saying: “We must take concrete steps to promote tourism by establishing joint working groups for this sector.”
