Rehman Malik urges govt, TLP not push the country towards bloodshed
Islamabad: Former Interior Minister and Chairman Institute of Research and Reforms Senator A. Rehman Malik has urged the government and Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) to not push the situation towards bloodshed.
He expressed that if the government does not act wisely, there is a possibility of massive bloodshed in the next few days. If the government has no problem in negotiating with the TLP, then this issue should be resolved, he adds.
He said that why the government did not implement the agreement earlier signed with TLP and the release of Mr. Saad Rizvi should not be any problem as TLP is not a terrorist organization and has not been banned by the Election Commission, adding the organization has representation in the provincial assembly. He said that the government’s confrontation with Tehreek-e-Libek Pakistan was not in the interest of the country in these situations. He said that Rangers have also been called in with police powers and if proper strategies are not used, clashes between the TLP and law enforcement agencies will escalate. Pakistan is being pushed towards unrest whereas the economic situation is already worsening and the rupee is falling sharply. “I would like to warn both sides timely to move towards a solution to this issue and not to push the situation towards bloodshed,” he said.
