Iron Brother China all praise for PM Imran Khan after positive CPEC remarks

Islamabad: Iron Brother China has highly appreciated Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s remarks to complete the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects on time.

“We highly appreciate Prime Minister Imran Khan for his determination and leadership in steering the development of CPEC,” tweeted Nong Rong, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan.

China, he said, “will work hard with Pakistan to promote high-quality development of the CPEC in a timely manner, for more benefits of the two peoples.”

Earlier in the day, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin remarked that Prime Minister Khan’s positive remarks on CPEC fully demonstrated that Pakistan attached high importance to friendship between the two countries and a comprehensive cooperation.

“China has noted that for some time that Prime Minister Imran Khan has made positive remarks on CPEC. This fully demonstrates that the Pakistani side pays high importance over the friendship between our two sides and a comprehensive cooperation,” he noted during his regular media briefing.

“While chairing a high level meeting to review the progress on CPEC projects, the prime minister emphasized that timelines specific for completion of CPEC projects should be adhered to. He also said that the government of Pakistan was committed to provisions of the CPEC agreement,” the spokesperson observed. The spokesperson added: “China highly appreciates the remarks made by the Prime Minister.”

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Khan sought quick implementation and operationalization of the CPEC projects.

Presiding over a high level meeting held here to review the progress on CPEC projects, PM Khan emphasized that timelines specified for the completion of CPEC projects should be met. “The government of Pakistan is fully committed to the provisions of CPEC agreements,” the PM was quoted as saying in an official statement issued by the PM’s Office.

The Prime Minister stated that China had been a time-tested friend of Pakistan and that the government accorded high priority to the implementation and operationalization of CPEC projects.

He highlighted that the continuity of policies was essential for long-term projects in order to achieve maximum benefits for the country.
