PPP writes letter to DG ISI seeking investigation into drone camera hitting Aseefa Bhutto
Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) General Secretary Syed Nayyer Bokhari has written a letter to DG Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum, seeking his assistance in investigation into the incident wherein a drone camera had hit and injured Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari during the party’s long march in Khanewal, Punjab.
“Given your organisation’s considerable expertise in investigations, we request that you look into this case and bring to light the facts,” the letter reads.
Earlier, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had said the incident where a drone hit and injured his sister, Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, during the PPP’s long march in Khanewal, was a ‘deliberate’ attack. Bilawal said the drone could be seen heading directly for his sister, and said the matter should be investigated further. He said his family believed the incident was a ‘message for Zardari and the party’.
An angry Bilawal said, “We have given several sacrifices, but not anymore”, adding that the family was contacting lawyers and had filed a report of the incident.
Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari suffered lacerations above her eye after a news channel drone crashed into her face as she stood alongside her brother during a PPP’s long march stop in Khanewal. Aseefa was taken to PPP House in Multan where he was checked by doctor and required stitches.
