Italy: International Championships ends

Rome: The International Championships of Italy ended in Turin, which gave a show on the courses of the Circolo Golf Torino (par 72) and Royal Park I Roveri (par 72), respectively the scene of the men’s and women’s competitions.

In the first, Filippo Ponzano won with a total of 284 (69 72 72 71, -4). The blue, born on 22 January 2004 and registered for the Circolo Golf Torino, already leader at the end of the second round, maintained the top of the standings in the third and fourth rounds, always controlling his opponents from a distance.

Second place, with 287 (75 72 68 72, -1), for the French Ugo Malcor. Miguel Orzi (74 79 68 69), Mattia Comotti (74 72 71 73) and Gianmarco Manfredi (72 72 76 70) finished third with 290 (+2). Thanks to this victory, obtained “at home”, Filippo Ponzano succeeds in the roll of honor to Gregorio De Leo, winner in 2021.

The 18-year-old Piedmontese confirms himself as one of the most promising young players in the blue amateur sector since in the past he was already imposed, among other competitions, in the Croatian Junior Boys Under 16 (in 2019) and in the National Boys’ Championship (in 2021).

In the pink competition, Helen Briem triumphed. The German found success thanks to a score of 285 (74 74 65 72, -3) with five shots ahead of the Dutch Anne-Sterre Den Dunnen, second with 290 (70 72 77 71, +2).

In third position with 291 (+3) the two Swiss Elena Moosman (71 74 77 69) and Elena Colombo (70 77 70 74), born and raised in Italy but naturalized Swiss. The best of the blue was Marta Spiazzi, fifth with 294 (74 74 76 70, +6).

Francesca Fiorellini, leader at the end of the second lap, lost ground in the final: the Roman finished seventh with 296 (72 70 75 79, +8). Another foreign success in this tournament after those achieved by the French Pauline Roussin Bouchard (in 2019) and Charlotte Liautier (in 2021), in 2020 the event was canceled for Covid.

At the end of the third round, the Nations’ Cup was awarded. In the men’s tournament, the Italy 1 team (Marco Florioli, Filippo Ponzano and Pietro Guido Fenoglio) won with 432 ahead of France 2 (Louis Pilod , Adam Bresnu and Ugo Malcor), second with 437.

Third place, with 438, for team Switzerland 1 (Marc Keller, Jonathan Gambely and Jean Leon Aeschlimann). Fourth place for the Italy 2 team (Elia Dallanegra, Alessandro Nardini and Michele Ferrero) with 439. Second consecutive success for Italy after the one obtained in 2021.

France (Carla De Troia, Constance Fouille and Vairana Heck) took the women’s trophy with a total of 437 with a shot ahead of team Switzerland 1 (Elena Moosman, Elena Colombo and Yana Beeli), second with 438. In third position , with 442, Germany (Helen Briem and Tessa Kremer).

Fourth was the Italy 1 team (Francesca Fiorellini, Paris Appendino and Charlotte Cattaneo) with 443. Both tournaments, which were played with the stroke play formula, were played over the distance of 72 holes (18 per day) with a cut after 54 which left the first 60 classified in the race and the equal merits in 60th place.
