Eid-ul-Fitr Open House held at Consul General’s residence

Chicago: The Consul General of Pakistan in Chicago, Tariq Karim, hosted an Eid Open House at his residence on May 2, 2022, to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr with the Pakistani community in the U.S. Midwest.

The event was attended by over 200 members of the Pakistani-American community from all walks of life, local dignitaries/elected officials, including Illinois’ Secretary of State Hon Jesse White, professionals, businessmen, representatives of consular corps and media. The Consul General and Mrs. Aasma Tariq personally received and welcomed guests.

The attendees termed the event a great opportunity to socialize and meet and greet each other on this happy occasion. They lauded the Consul General’s initiative to reach out and bring such a large number of community members, their families and local officials together to celebrate Eid. Guests said that being able to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr at the Consul General’s residence, decorated with Pakistani handicrafts, with a sumptuous spread of Pakistani cuisine, made them feel as though they were celebrating in Pakistan.

During his interaction, the Consul General highlighted that the celebration of Eid provided an opportunity to share happiness and promote greater harmony, compassion, unity and brotherhood irrespective of caste, creed, color, or religion. He urged the Pakistani-American community to continue to play their role as bridge-builders to promote Pakistan-US partnership. The event concluded with prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan and a pledge to work untiringly for the promotion of Pakistan’s interests and ‘True Spirit’.
