Chinese SAU officials introduce fully-funded PhD scholarship winning Pakistani students to Chinese Culture, rules

Bahawalpur: Chinese Sichuan Agricultural University (SAU) officials have introduced the PhD scholarship winning Pakistani students to Chinese Culture, University rules and informed them about regulations and related matters.

The SAU officials participated in a virtual meeting with the students from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) who will soon fly to China for further studies under a fully-funded program.

China, had announced 20 scholarships yearly for the students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently signed by both universities.

Speaking at the online introductory session of students selected for scholarships at Sichuan Agricultural University of the People’s Republic of China, organized by the Directorate of International Linkages, Vice-Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engineer Professor Dr Athar Mahboob said that “our students would brighten the name of the country and Bahawalpur in the Chinese University as the ambassador of their university.”

Vice-Chancellor Athar Mahboob mentioned that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur had achieved the milestone and status of an International University with the support from China.

He contended that bilateral engagements with the world’s best universities were developing, which will bring the teaching and research of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur to world-class.

He noted that the remarkable growth of the university in the last three years, its teaching and research in more than 300 disciplines, and the extraordinary growth and performance of the faculty, students, and the attention of national and international institutions had promoted the image of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

He underscored that besides China, international organizations were extending support through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and Rabita Alam-e-Islami to the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

“The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is rapidly moving towards the goal of achieving the status of an International University in line with the vision of its founder Nawabs Bahawalpur,” he observed.

On the occasion, Professor Dr Abid Shehzad, Director of International Linkages, informed that the PhD scholarship from the Chinese University covers all the expenses.
