Italy: Rome’s Colosseum opens for moonlight tours
Rome: Rome’s Colosseum opens up its labyrinth of underground chambers and tunnels for night visits this summer, starting from May 20.
The ancient amphitheatre will open every Friday and Saturday night until December, and on Thursday-Friday-Saturday between June and October, as part of the annual Luna sul Colosseo experience.
The itinerary, enlivened by multimedia projections, takes visitors on a tour of the arena floor and the underground areas that once housed gladiators and wild animals before combat.
The hour-long tours, in Italian and English, are designed for groups of up to 25 people, with tickets costing €25, or reduced rate of €22 (groups or members).
