Italy: 13 million Italians Plan to travel on June 2 – 90% of them inside Italy, survey reveals
Rome: Nearly 13 million Italians will travel on June 2 for the country’s National and Republic Day, the majority of whom, or a total of 87.4 per cent will choose to stay in Italy.
The same source shows that the seaside resorts will be among the most favourite destinations or 44.5 per cent, while a total of 21.3 per cent will choose the major and minor art cities.
The survey also revealed that 8.8 per cent would choose mountain resorts. For all persons who decided to go abroad or 12.6 per cent, the figures show that they will go to European capitals.
According to a survey provided by the Confcommercio-Swg Observatory, there would be at least 9 million Italian travellers on June 2.
The same source said that if the Easter “script” is repeated, there would be over 13 million travellers.
The survey says that with an average duration of 3 the trips will be in Italy in the majority of the cases, or 95 per cent, half of them outside their own region, spending a total of 460 euros each.
The same source shows that the favourite destinations are the sea, or a total of 7 per cent of travel intentions, followed by cities, villages as well as places of art.
The Italian Republic Day, also known as Festa Della Repubblica for Italians, is officially celebrated in Italy on June 2. It commemorated the institutional referendum of 1946 when citizens of Italy were called to take a vote and also decide on the form of their government soon after World War II.
Authorities in Italy have kept in place strict entry rules in order to prevent the further spread of the Coronavirus and its new variants.
However, recently the government decided to abolish the majority of the restrictions in order to further help the country’s industries recover from the damages caused by the Coronavirus and its new variants.
Earlier this month, the country’s Ministry of Health announced that it abolished the requirement to complete the Passenger Locator Form while stressing that the rest of the restrictions would be prolonged until the end of the month.
In addition, the government of Italy also announced that the country lifted the mandatory face mask requirement, so travellers could enjoy their trips more without being subject to additional entry requirements.
