Energy China International Group behind mega projects worth $ 15 billion, can play a big role in Pakistan, high-level meeting told
Islamabad: Energy China International Group has delivered about 23 mega projects in the last three decades with value of more than US $ 15 billion worldwide and can play a big role in Pakistan, a high-level meeting was told here.
Federal Minister and chairman Board of Investment (BOI) Chaudhary Salik Hussain chaired the high level meeting with Energy China International Group.
The minister was briefed about the Energy China International Group which has global presence and is handling international businesses being are experts in renewable energy projects.
The minister was informed that Energy China has delivered about 23 mega projects in the last three decades with value of more than US $ 15.
The federal minister on the occasion said that clean and renewable energy is the way forward and is essential for the growing economy of Pakistan.
The minister maintained that clean and cheap solar energy would provide relief to general masses and asked for special tariff policy for solar powered mega projects.
He mentioned that the Chinese investment in solar energy will generate employment opportunities in country and will help in growth of economy.
The minister noted that Pakistan’s growing economy requires low cost electricity in the long run and renewable energy was the way forward. The minister proposed a solar powered water treatment plant for Karachi and urged Chinese investors to establish a solar panel manufacturing plant in Pakistan.
Hussain also said that government would ensure import of low cost solar panels for general masses.
The minister underscored that the government was committed to provide ideal environment for Chinese investors in clean energy.
The minister appreciated China Energy’s proposed projects of 1.5 Giga Watt of solar power projects worth 1.96 billion Dollars of investment. He underlined that the government was committed to provide ideal environment for Chinese investors in clean energy.
The meeting was attended by Secretary BOI, Vice President China Energy and officials of Board of investment.
