Briefing to participants of NDU of Republic of Zimbabwe held

Islamabad: A 49 members delegation from National Defence University of Republic of Zimbabwe visited Ministry of Foreign Office on 24 June 2022 for a briefing on Foreign Policy of Pakistan and its foreign relations as a part of their Foreign Study Tour.

The delegation was headed by Air Vice Marshall Michael Tedzani Moyo, Vice Chancellor and Commandant of Zimbabwe National Defence University. The delegation included Armed Forces officers from Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, Nigeria and Malawi.

The participants were briefed by Mr. Raza Bashir Tarar, Special Secretary (Policy Planning and Public Diplomacy) on the Foreign Policy of Pakistan and Pakistan’s foreign relations. He highlighted Pakistan’s bilateral relations with immediate neighboring countries, relations with Muslim World and Major Super Powers. The positive role played by Pakistan in multilateral forums and contribution to the UN’s peacekeeping operations were explained to the participants. Major emphasis was placed on Pakistan’s relations with Africa. The Special Secretary (PP&PD) emphasized that Africa is the continent of the future and Pakistan and Africa should increase cooperation in all fields, including political, economic, culture, Science and Technology and Defence, culture. Ways and means to improve with trade and economic relations with Africa were discussed.

The Question and Answer session was conducted by Mr. Raza Bashir Tarar Secretary (PP&PD) and Mr. Ali Javed, Additional Secretary (Africa). The participants asked questions about Pakistan’s relations with India, Afghanistan, the US and strategic stability in South Asia.
