Internationally known Chinese bus company Yutong to set up public transport plant in Sindh
Karachi: Internationally known Chinese bus company Yutong has agreed to set up public transport plant in Sindh that would be established in Karachi or Hyderabad to improve public transport facilities.
This important development took place in a meeting here between Sindh Provincial Minister for Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon and Country Manager of Yutong Buses China Paul Zhang. Yutong Buses China Service Head Yutong Wayner Wang accompanied Paul Zhang during the meeting.
“The meeting agreed to prepare a proposal in this regard by next week. The plant will be set up on 15 to 18 acres of land,” said an official statement released after the meeting.
During the meeting, Sindh Provincial Minister for Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the transport department is making every effort to set up a public transport plant in Sindh.
“This will improve the public transport sector and will also bring foreign investment and create new jobs,” he added.
Secretary Transport Abdul Haleem Sheikh, Managing Director (MD) Sindh Mass Transit Authority Captain Altaf Hussain Sario (retd) and National Radio Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) Project Director Sohaib Shafiq were also present on the occasion.
Headquartered in Zhengzhou of central China’s Henan Province, Yutong Group Co., Ltd. is a large-scale industrial group mainly specialized in the bus business, and also covers some other strategic businesses such as construction machinery, automotive parts and components and real estate.
It has three production plants of whole vehicle that are all located in Zhengzhou, Henan province, China. Among them, the Yutong Industrial Park, covering an area of 1.2 million square meters, and the new energy plant, covering an area of 1.33 million square meters, have an annual production capacity of 30,000 units respectively.

In the same year, 16,461 units of new energy buses were delivered. As of the end of 2020, Yutong has totally exported more than 75,000 units, and the sales volume of large and medium-sized buses has taken the leading position in the world for many consecutive years.
Yutong has realized a sizable sales volume in over 30 countries and regions such as France, UK, Australia and Saudi Arabia and so on with a market share of over 35% in China and over 15% in the world. In the main target markets, Yutong has become one of the world’s major bus and coach suppliers.
