Pakistan, Italy need to come together: Ambassador Andreas Ferrarese

Islamabad: Italy’s Ambassador to Pakistan Andreas Ferrarese said this week that Pakistan and Italy needed to come together in an effort to strengthen bilateral business cooperation and investment opportunities.

In a meeting with Pakistani businesspersons here, Ambassador Ferrarese praised that new economic and operational businesses and equipment were being opened in all major Pakistani cities, including Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

In a meeting with Pakistani businesspersons here, Ambassador Ferrarese maintained that there were many potential investment opportunities between the two countries that could benefit.

He said the Italian embassy in Islamabad under him would make every effort to assist the Pakistani businesspersons. “Our embassy is ready to negotiate with local investors and businesses, in particular the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to facilitate obtaining trading visas from traders,” he added.

The Ambassador said the relevant business people and people certified by the room were also ready to provide visa approvals.

He noted that currently, new economic and operational businesses and equipment are being opened in all major cities, including Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

The Ambassador said that over time this will be extended to other potential trade areas to increase economic and trade integration between the two countries.

He said the natural economy, technology transfer in the textile and agricultural sectors, the construction, education and health sectors were the main focus areas for expanding bilateral cooperation.

He said he would also encourage student exchanges so that they could continue to strengthen bilateral relations.

Ambassador Ferrarese said Pakistan and Italy enjoy a strong bond, and the ambassador noted that the European country had the most dispersed people in Pakistan in the rest of the European Union (EU).
