Shahzad Ali Malik appointed RPSC chief to propose a result-oriented long-term strategy in collaboration with China
Islamabad: Punjab Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman has appointed Chairman Pakistan Hi Tech Hybrid Seed Association (PHHSA) Shahzad Ali Malik, as chairman sub-committee on Rice of Provincial Seed Committee (RPSC) and tasked him to propose a viable result-oriented long-term strategy for boosting rice production in the country in collaboration with China.
Malik was earlier was awarded a civil award by the Government of Pakistan in recognition of his meritorious services in the field of rice for evolving first ever high-tech hybrid seed and guard agricultural research and services was the first in the country which brought hybrid rice technology from China to Pakistan in 1999 through a collaboration agreement with a top class technology provider ‘Yuan Longping’ high tech Agriculture Company China.
After his new appointment, Shahzad Ali Malik said Chinese breeding technology was helping Pakistan farmers to easily cultivate high-yield, disease-resistant new rice varieties for exports.
He maintained that the Chinese enterprises and research institutes that evolved new varieties of seeds and introduced excellent cultivation techniques were helping farmers which boosted rice production in Pakistan and finally exported to China.
Shahzad Ali Malik, who is also founder chairman Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) stressed that both countries have close cooperation in the agriculture sector which was showing positive results especially in high yielding rice varieties.
He said PHHSA was the only entity in private sector which was conducting ultra modern research in evolving hi tech hybrid seeds in Pakistan with a sole objective of extending helping hand to government for boosting agricultural production and meeting ever increasing food staples needs of growing population explosion.
Malik also expressed his gratitude to Governor for reposing trust on him assigning task to tailor a feasible plan for developing new Hitech hybrid rice seeds in the private sector.
