Chinese company generously distributes Ramzan gifts to Pakistanis
Karachi: MCC Resource Development Company, a Chinese company operating in Pakistan, distributes nearly 1,000 Ramzan gift packs every year during the fasting month in areas around the Duddar project.
The Chinese Embassy tweeted on Friday afternoon that every year during Ramzan, the company covers local poor families within 25 kilometers of the surrounding area.
“Each Ramzan gift pack includes: rice 10kg, flour 30kg, 1 carton oil , sugar 5kg and tea 1kg,” the embassy tweeted.
Duddar has built and renovated Soomal Got Primary School several times between 2021 and 2022. The school now has about 100 students from nearby villages. During Ramzan of this year, Duddar project has also donated 100 school uniforms and teachers’ uniforms to the school.
In the recent past, MCC Resource Development Company, donated US $ 250,000 to flood victims in the country’s largest province, Balochistan.
According to He Xuping, Chairman of MCC Resource Development Company, the flash flood disaster, which was not been seen in decades, had destroyed thousands of houses and a large number of facilities and equipment within Pakistan, causing great injuries to the country and its people, with over 1,100 people killed and a loss of approximately US $10 billion dollars.
Apart from their own flood relief work, MCC projects in Saindak and Duddar were instructed by MCC, which is directly managed by China Minmetals Group, to pay close attention to local disaster situations with the utmost effort and support to the local government and people in fighting against the flood devastations.
Following receipt of a detailed report on the flood disaster in Pakistan, MCC convened a thematic meeting and decided to donate US $250,000 to Balochistan, where infrastructure conditions are poor in all aspects but have been severely impacted by the floods, in order to assist the government and people in fighting the floods and rebuilding their homeland.
Duddar zinc mine is located 135km North-North-West of Karachi in Pakistan. It is a mine project jointly developed by Metallurgical Construction Group (MCC) and Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation(PDMC).
Underground mining is carried out mainly using sublevel open stoping method, while differential flotation system is used to produced lead and zinc concentrate.
The concentrates are targeted to be processed at Hunan Zhuzhou smelter in China. The ultimate depth of the underground mine was expected to be around 900m underground.
