Pakistan Culture Week inaugurated at Dujiangyan, China
Sichuan: A “Pakistan Cultural Week in Sichuan” was inaugurated in Dujiangyan, a famous touristic city located in Sichuan province, China Being held from May 18 to 24 2023, the event is part of series of activities planned for the ongoing Year of China-Pakistan Tourism Exchanges and 10th anniversary of the establishment of Belt and Road Anniversary. It has been jointly organized by Pakistan Consulate General Chengdu, Sichuan People’s Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries (SIFA) and Municipal Government of Dujiangyan.
The cultural week was officially inaugurated by Ambassador Moin ul Haque along with Mr. Hong Liu, President of SIGA and Mr. Zhang Yadan, Mayor of Dujiangyan.
Speaking on the occasion Ambassador Moin ul Haque highlighted the time-tested nature of China-Pakistan friendship, which has been a pride of generations of people of both countries. Underlining the importance of people-to-people and cultural exchanges, he briefed the audience about Pakistan’s rich history, scenic beauty and cultural heritage and invited them to visit and explore Pakistan in the ongoing Year of Tourism Exchanges.
A photo exhibition, cultural performances, display of Pakistani handicrafts, screening of Pakistani film and a lecture on Pakistani culture are part of the Cultural Week activities. A Letter of Intent to establish sister city relationship between Murree and Dujiangyan was also signed.
The event is being held at iconic Lidui Park which is located next to the 2000 year old irrigation and water management system designated as UNESCO World Heritage site. The Cultural Week is estimated to attract 30,000 visitors every day.
