Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Faisal Karim Kundi said on Sunday that Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq had no moral justification to claim the mayorship of Karachi.
Addressing a press conference, he said the people of Karachi had rejected the false claims of JI, adding the PTI members had also not supported the JI’s policies.
He added the people of Karachi had achieved the real freedom and the recent elections which gave Murtaza Wahab mayorship was the evidence that common people were with the PPP.

As per unofficial results, Murtaza Wahab secured 173 votes while his rival, Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI-backed) candidate Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, got 160 votes.
PPP’s Salman Abdullah Murad was elected as deputy mayor by bagging 173 votes to defeat his opponent Saifuddin Advocate of JI who secured 160 votes.
