Islamabad: Hunan University of Chinese Medicine will offer fellowships and post-doc positions for researchers of OIC member states.
This decision was made during a meeting between Professor Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator-General of COMSTECH, and higher representatives of China’s Ministry of Health. Professor Choudhary visited China as part of a joint delegation between COMSTECH and the Ministry of Health, Sindh, from July 12-18, the COMSTECH said in a statement issued here.
The “Sino-COMSTECH International Forum on Food and Nutrition” is scheduled to take place in Islamabad early next year.
The visit focused on bilateral cooperation in healthcare, traditional medicines, nutrition, drug discovery, and health development.
During the visit, it was agreed that Hunan University of Chinese Medicine will offer fellowships and post-doc positions for researchers of OIC member states, and a project will be initiated to assess the nutritional needs of pregnant and lactating mothers and newborn babies.
The delegation explored cooperation possibilities between China, Pakistan, and COMSTECH member states in the fields of health and medicine.
Professor Choudhary emphasized the importance of promoting traditional medicine in the OIC world during a seminar on “Sino-Pak traditional medicine collaboration to safeguard human health”. Moreover, he received visiting professorship recognition from two Chinese institutions for his contributions to the field of medicine.
