Lahore: On Friday afternoon, Moazzam Ghurki, President of the Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI), emphasized the importance of establishing the Pakistan-China Women’s Development Employment Initiative.
The goal is to empower women in both Pakistan and China on a larger scale.
During a meeting with Fang Yulong, Senior Vice President of PCJCCI, Ghurki suggested implementing such projects under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to foster the growth of young Pakistani businesswomen and promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. He highlighted that the experiences of Chinese women can positively impact the social development of Pakistani women.
As part of this initiative, various short courses will be introduced, focusing on technical and vocational training in areas such as garments, food, handicrafts, languages, and the IT sector, he added. These courses aim to support women’s empowerment efforts in China and provide them with opportunities to become a crucial part of the “high-tech manpower” required for Gwadar free zones and competitive markets, both nationally and internationally, Ghurki remarked.
On the occasion, Fang Yulong, the Senior Vice President of PCJCCI, expressed that by providing technical and professional education, along with other necessary facilities at no cost, these women will become agents of change, transforming small towns into modern smart cities.
