Vice-President Yadav bats for deepening Nepal-Pakistan relations
Kathmandu: Vice-President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav has said that cooperation among the member states was vital for the effectiveness of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
During a meeting with Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal Abrar H. Hashmi on Thursday at the Office of the Vice-President, Yadav said that SAARC should advance for peace, prosperity and greater good of the member states and peoples there.
Vice-President Yadav said that Nepal, in the capacity of the SAARC Chair, is doing its best to end the impasse seen in the advancement of SAARC. “For this, cooperation among all member states is crucial,” Yadav added.
On the occasion, the Vice-President stressed the need for cooperation on commerce and economic issues. “We can cooperate on trade, investment, tourism, cultural exchange and people to people relations,” the Vice-President viewed.
Likewise, Vice-President Yadav stated that Nepal has encouraged investors from Pakistan on hydropower, tourism, physical infrastructure and information technology.
During the meeting, Yadav expressed his concerns about the global warming and climate change impacts on the Hindu Kush-Himalayan (HKH) region. He also stated that all should unite to reduce the climate change impacts in the region.
Furthermore, the Vice-President expressed his confidence that the role of Pakistani Ambassador will be important to deepen cooperative partnership between Nepal and Pakistan, according to the Secretariat of the Vice-President.
