Pakistan Embassy commemorates 76th Anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence in Beijing
Islamabad: Pakistan Embassy, Beijing celebrated the 76th Independence of Pakistan with a solemn flag hoisting ceremony.
The event, held on 14 August, entailed recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by Ambassador Moin ul Haque formally hoisting the national flag. Messages by the President and Prime Minister on the occasion were also read out. The patriotic zeal and fervor characteristic of Independence Day celebrations was visible during the proceedings.
President Dr. Arif Alvi in his message paid tribute to the sacrifices rendered by founding fathers and workers of the Pakistan movement. Underscoring that this day provided an opportunity for introspection, he urged the Pakistanis to work for welfare of deprived sections of society and uphold the principles of democracy; freedom; equality; socio-economic justice; and moral and ethical values as enunciated by Islam. The president also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering and continued political diplomatic and moral support 4 Kashmiri brethren in their legitimate right to self-determination.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in his message paid homage to Quaid-i-and other leaders of the Pakistan movement for their vision and struggles that resulted in the creation of Pakistan. Prime Minister praised the resilience of Pakistanis with which they had faced the worst natural disasters, conflicts and wars and always managed to build back better. He underlined that this day gave us an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of the past, celebrate the achievements of the present and envision a brighter future of our country. Prime Minister urged Pakistanis to work towards a nation that embodies the principal of justice, equality and prosperity for all. The message also drew attention to the continued Indian atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the continued military siege and communications blockade, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support for the Kashmir cause.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Moin ul Haque congratulated Pakistanis on 76th Independence Day of Pakistan. He commended the efforts of our forefathers and leaders who conceived and crystallized the idea of independent and sovereign Muslim state in subcontinent. Underlining that Pakistan would be approaching the 100th anniversary of its independence in another 24 years, he called upon the community to work with dedication and diligence to achieve the vision of our founding fathers of a peaceful, prosperous, progressive and pluralistic Pakistan by that historic milestone.
Highlighting the timeless and time-tested friendship between Pakistan and China, he stressed that this year was significant for both countries as the 10th anniversary of BRI and CPEC; and also as the Year of China-Pakistan Tourism Exchanges. He expressed condolences on the recent floods in China and called upon the Pakistani community to assist the Chinese brethren in this hour of need.
