Chinese nationals security of utmost importance: Punjab police chief
Lahore: nDr. Usman Anwar, the Inspector General of Police in Punjab, emphasized the utmost importance of ensuring the security of Chinese nationals engaged in various critical projects, both those related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other projects.
He stressed the need for robust measures to safeguard all foreign citizens, experts, and investors.
Dr. Usman Anwar made these remarks while presiding over a meeting focused on enhancing the security of foreign nationals.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) in Manawan.
Highlighting the significance of maintaining foolproof security arrangements at offices, work sites, and residences, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar called for regular inspections.
He issued directives for SPU personnel to be stationed in local or nearby districts to enhance their effectiveness.
The IG Punjab suggested the establishment of a well-defined promotion system that encompasses all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for advancing from constable to inspector positions.
Furthermore, he instructed SPU personnel to execute their duties with honesty and dedication, leaving no stone unturned in providing a secure and peaceful environment for foreign nationals.
Dr. Usman Anwar visited the SPU Headquarters in Manawan, leading a significant meeting centered on foreign nationals’ security. Attendees included Deputy Inspector General (DIG) SPU Tayyab Hafeez Cheema, DIG IT Ahsan Younis, and other senior officers.
During the meeting, DIG SPU Tayyab Hafeez Cheema provided an overview of foreign nationals’ security measures and the functioning of the control room. The IG Punjab reviewed security preparations at sensitive locations, including consulates of China, the United States, and Iran.
