China commitment to channeling more investments through SIFC: Chinese envoy
Islamabad: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong on Wednesday afternoon paid a visit to the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in Islamabad along with a delegation.
This diplomatic visit holds considerable importance in strengthening the bilateral relations between Islamabad and Beijing.
During a meeting with the Director General of the SIFC Dr Jehanzaib Khan – who is also the Special Assistant to Caretaker Prime Minister, Ambassador Zaidong commended the SIFC’s efforts in attracting investments from friendly nations, including China.
The senior diplomat expressed China’s commitment to channeling more investments through the SIFC, with the aim of taking Pak-China economic cooperation to unprecedented levels.
The Director-General of SIFC, in turn, assured complete support and facilitation for Chinese investments, along with implementing policies to create a conducive environment.
Under the umbrella of the SIFC, various projects presented by different ministries have been approved.
These projects are designed to attract investments from friendly nations and are focused on key sectors such as agriculture, livestock, mining, minerals, information technology, and energy.
China has maintained its status as a significant investor in Pakistan for several years, and both nations share a robust economic relationship. China’s involvement in numerous infrastructure and development initiatives in Pakistan underscores the depth of this partnership.
The SIFC program is expected to align with the broader multi-billion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and play a pivotal role in propelling progress in the region.
