Number of registered transgender voters increases

Islamabad: In the upcoming general elections, transgenders registered themselves as voters as registered eunuch voters across the country reached 3,029.
According to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), 3,029 transgender voters from across the country will exercise their right to vote in the upcoming general elections.
The number of registered transgender voters has increased by 1,116 compared to the 2018 elections.
The most number of registered eunuch voters are in Punjab province with 2200 as per the latest census data while the number of eunuch voters registered in Punjab in 2018 elections were 1356.
ECP Director Babar Malik said a separate box has been made in Form 21 for registering the vote of transgenders.
ECP Deputy Director Gendar Shabbir Khan said that the ECP gave the right to vote to all eligible persons without discrimination so they could able to exercise their right to vote.
He said all eligible persons, including transgenders, can change their vote or register a new vote till October 25.
