World should help Kashmiris to end Indian occupation: Ali Raza Syed

Brussels: Chairman Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) in a webinar on Kashmir’s’ Black Day on Friday called the international community to help the oppressed people of Jammu and Kashmir to end Indian occupation of their beloved homeland.

The webinar organized by Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) on eve of day of occupation of Jammu and Kashmir was attended by European intellectuals, human right activists and journalists. Other speakers also called for end of occupation of oppressed and weak nations including Kashmiris, Ukrainians, and Palestinians.

People on both sides of the line of control dividing the Jammu and Kashmir and Kashmiris based in the rest of world observe black day on October 27 every year to mark strong protest and express their anger against the continual forced and unlawful Indian occupation of their beloved land of Jammu and Kashmir for the last 76 years since the day of occupation. It was October 27, 1947, when New Delhi had forcibly landed her occupational armed military troops in the territory of Kashmir.

Presiding the webinar, Chairman KC-EU Ali Raza Syed said, India occupied a large part of Jammu and Kashmir for last 76 years. Every year, we observe the day of occupation as the black day and we hold protest on the black day every year. He said, 76 years before, India unlawfully invaded the territory of Jammu and Kashmir and continues its illegal occupation on the Kashmiris’ land.

He said, some of the major powers misuse their military power and by violating the international norms occupy the weak nations which should not be acceptable for any reason. The chair of KC-EU calls on the international community and world civil societies to play their role to end occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. He added, attack on the civilians and non-combatants in the war or other violence against them is not acceptable at any cost. He expressed his concerns on killing of civilians and innocent people in both Palestine and Israel but said, killing of civilians including children, women and elders in revenge of killing of other civilians cannot be justified in any law.

Addressing the webinar, Hungarian Journalist Mikulas Kriwansky said, governments greedy of power and selfish in their nature invade the weak states under the different pretexts. He said, although there are conventions and other international laws to prevent the massacre and genocide of the civilians, but these laws are not being respected. Role of civil society is very important in maintaining peace and stability but currently civil society be remained inactive in the context.

Another European intellectual Andre Barcs said, international community should stop killing of civilians in Jammu and Kashmir, Palestine and Ukraine and illegal occupation of Kashmir and Ukraine should be ended. He added, violence is always incorrect, and Europe should not be silent on violation of human rights in occupied Kashmir. Killings of the civilians and innocent people in all part of the world including Kashmir, Palestine, Israel and Ukraine should be discouraged.

Talking about Ukraine’s war, the Ukrainian Journalist Anna Panova spoke about her story of sadness and sufferings of people of Ukraine from the war since early last year. She expressed her gratitude to the world community for support in the difficult time.
