Seminar on “3rd Belt and Road Forum” held, enhanced Pakistan-China economic ties discussed

Lahore: A seminar titled “3rd Belt and Road Forum” was jointly organized by the Chinese Consulate in Lahore and the Institute of International Relations and Media Research.
Notable figures in attendance included Caretaker Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce S M Tanvir and Consul General Zhao Shiran, who graced the occasion as special guests.
They deliberated on the prospects of strengthening collaboration between China and Pakistan. The focal point of the discussions revolved around enhancing bilateral economic ties and fostering people-to-people connections.
Provincial Minister SM Tanvir, responsible for Industries and Commerce, underscored China’s unwavering support for Pakistan, emphasizing its role as a steadfast friend during challenging times.
He highlighted that recent visits and exchanges between the two nations resulted in the signing of four agreements, reflecting the growing depth of their partnership. SM Tanvir emphasized the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a crucial initiative for both countries.
He also extended an invitation to Chinese enterprises to invest in Punjab’s Special Economic Zone and Industrial Estates, emphasizing the potential for cooperation in various sectors such as food processing, technical education, agriculture, livestock, and more.
The minister expressed the government’s commitment to harness Chinese technology and collaborate to bolster the industrial sector.
Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiran expressed his commitment to strengthening the enduring relationship between China and Pakistan. He particularly emphasized the vital role of the CPEC in advancing the economies of both nations and the broader region. This, in their view, marked the beginning of a new era of friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and China.
The seminar was also participated by Chairman of the Institute of International Relations, Muhammad Mahdi, alongside professors, scholars, and experts from various universities, contributing to the insightful discussions and dialogues at the event.
