Pakistan can establish global connections through BRI: Finance Minister
Islamabad: Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar has said that Pakistan can establish global connections through Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)
Speaking to journalists here, she stressed that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a game changer for Pakistan.
Akhtar contended that Pakistan can establish global connections through Belt and Road initiatives, noting China’s consistent support for Pakistan during challenging times.
She underlined that the the government was actively implementing measures to alleviate debt stress, reduce circular debt, and boost Pakistan’s economic growth.
Akhtar emphasized the necessity to curtail borrowing and enhance efficiency within public sector departments.
She highlighted the increased tariff rates in the power and gas sectors as a crucial step to control the substantial burden of circular debt on Pakistan’s economy.
Akhtar underscored the importance of institutional reforms to address the prevailing challenges in the country.
Responding to a query about privatization, she mentioned the formulation of a comprehensive strategy for privatizing non-profit entities and the development of a scheme to launch Sukuk bonds through the Stock Exchange under the Islamic laws.
