Islamabad: China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a blessing for Pakistan which is bound to transform the country’s future, a senior Pakistani cabinet member said.
Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Sami Saeed emphasized that CPEC was a not only beneficial two Pakistan and China but the whole region.
He elaborated that CPEC serves as a framework for regional connectivity, offering benefits not only to China and Pakistan but also positively impacting Iran, Afghanistan, Central Asian Republic, and the broader region.
He underlined that improvement of geographical linkages, including enhanced road, rail, and air transportation systems, fosters frequent and free exchanges of both economic and cultural interactions which was globally beneficial.
“This coupled with academic and regional knowledge exchange, higher trade volumes, and efficient energy flow, aims to create a well-connected, integrated region marked by shared destiny, harmony, and development,” the minister added.

He stressed that the vision and mission of CPEC involve raising living standards through bilateral investments, trade, cultural exchanges, and economic activities.
Saeed contended that originating from the One Belt One Road (OBOR) project initiated by the Chinese government in 2013, CPEC is a crucial component, representing an economic game-changer for Pakistan.
“It promises to stimulate businesses, reduce poverty, create employment opportunities, and enhance health and education in local communities,” he maintained.
The minister counted the social, infrastructural, and tourism effects of CPEC, considering rural development and knowledge sharing.
“This indicates a significant role of CPEC in Pakistan’s socio-economic and rural development, with potential positive changes in infrastructure, energy, and social projects, bridging rural-urban gaps for sustainable development,” he mentioned.
Saeed reiterated that the Pakistani government was committed to complete all the CPEC projects on time for the benefit of the country.
He expressed satisfaction with the recent and ongoing contacts with the Chinese counterparts saying the Chinese friends were satisfied with the progress of work on the CPEC projects.
