True potential of partnership between Pakistan and China in trade, investment much higher: Privatisation Minister

Islamabad: Pakistani Federal Minister for Privatisation, Fawad Hasan Fawad said that the true potential of the partnership between the two countries in trade and investment was much higher and must be realised.

In a meeting with a delegation of Chinese Companies and Investors at Privatisation Division, the Federal Minister appreciated the interest of the Chinese companies and briefed them regarding investment opportunities in Pakistan.

The Minister offered all cooperation to investors on behalf of the government and informed the delegation that a one window investment facilitation arrangement under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is fast addressing the issues in investor facilitation and implementation at various tiers of the government.

He observed that the true potential of the partnership between the two countries in trade and investment was not being realized and needed to be capitalized.

“Pakistan can be a very suitable country for relocation of industry from China given availability of both skilled and unskilled labour, basic raw materials for a wide range of industries as well as fast growing local market,” he added.

The minister articulated that investing in renewable energy sector and in EV manufacturing can be of good interest for Chinese investors.

The Secretary, Privatisation Division, Jawad Paul was also present in the meeting.
