Greece puts off inaugural green certificates auction – report
Athens: Greece’s maiden tender for Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) will be postponed by at least two months due to permitting issues, Energypress reports.
The competition was due to be issued by national renewable energy market operator DAPEEP in January. Its goal is to offer REGOs from renewable power plants commissioned after January 1, 2021.
According to the report, rules for the competitive round have still not been cleared by the Regulatory Authority for Waste, Energy and Water (RAAEY), which has triggered the delay. As regulations for the tender were revised several times, the agency will hold an additional consultation before it gives its authorisation. A decision for the extra consultation is due to be made next week.
In view of the changes, the REGOs tender will supposedly not commence before late March. Its completion will allow the domestic REGOs register to be linked with those of other European countries, enabling domestically issued green energy certificates to be visible at all European markets signed up to the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB).
